Katherine B. Braye, of  the 5600 block of  Tidewater Dr. Went home to be with the LORD on April 7, 2020.  She was born in Norfolk, VA.  The second child to the late William H. Baker Sr. and Jessie M. Baker, attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.  She retired from the Naval Supply Center after 31 years as an accounting tech.

At an early age Katherine, called “Sister” by her family, gave her life to Christ and became a member of First Baptist Church Berkley, she served on the usher board and as recording secretary.

She leaves behind to mourn, two sons, Bradley E. Russell (MD) and Herbert L. Russell (VA); two brothers, Reginald Baker (Joyce) of Cherry Hill, NJ; Richard Baker (Shirley) of Columbia, Md; two sisters, Audrey Gardner of New Jersey and Nellie Suter (Andrew) of Chesapeake, Va.; grandsons, Sterling Russell and family (Md), Bradley Russell and family (Md); nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by Husband, Garland Braye; brothers, William, James, and Shelton Baker and sister, Constance Rodgers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Metropolitan Funeral Service 120 W. Berkley Avenue Norfolk, VA 23523

    Katherine was a lady in every sense of the word. She loved her family and would do anything she could to be helpful. She had a way with words that was spirited, to the point, and honest. Katherine was very kind to me, and our visits were filled with joy and laughter. Blessings and comfort to the family.
