A Summary of Katherine’s Legacy
On the morning of Thursday, June 18, 2020, Katherine received her wings.
Katherine Elizabeth Rogers was born September 22, 1952 in Franklin, Virginia to the late James Phillips of Isle of Wight County, Virginia and Florence Palmer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Katherine attended and graduated from the Norfolk Public School District. She continued her education at The School of Professional Nursing at DePaul Medical Center becoming registered nurse.
Katherine was lovingly known by Kat, Kitty, Ma, and Nana. Katherine was a sweetheart who enjoyed having a good laugh with family and friends. Katherine was an honest woman who would speak her mind. She loved planting vegetables, fishing and crabbing and doing a little crocheting…well a lot of crocheting. It was not nothing for her to put a blanket together for a loved one.
Katherine was welcomed by Carmela Baker (daughter) and Timothy Jones (son-in-law).
Katherine leaves her precious memories with her children: Barbara Baker-Jones (Virginia Beach), David Baker (Norfolk), and Kenneth Nichols (Norfolk); Grandchildren: Nicole Baker (Norfolk), LaTosha Royster-Ghee (Norfolk), Davon Baker (Norfolk), Travis Baker (Norfolk), Mercedes Jordan (Manassas, Virginia), Serenity Nichols (Chesapeake), Keara Nichols (Chesapeake); Great grandchildren: Nastaja Baker, Monae McNeal, Davon Baker Jr, Unique Baker, De’vyn Baker, Kennali Ghee, and Heiress Griffith; Special/Best Friend: Daniel Baker; Nephews: Terry Gray and Rodney Davidson; and a host of family and friends near and far.
She will be greatly missed.
