Karen Delisa Abbott Bethea (Cookie) was born May 24, 1952 to the late Francell and Ola Anderson Abbott. On February 20, 2021 while surrounded by her loving sons, Karen left us to go home to be with the Lord and have eternal peace. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System and attended Norfolk State University. Karen found her niche working at Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) and retired after 29 years of dedicated service. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a lifelong member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church.
Karen touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. She was especially known for her kind, loving, caring demeanor and loyal friendship. She was a wonderful mother and her sons were light of her life. Karen was an avid tennis fan and watched every match she could. She also enjoyed horse racing and golf.
Karen is survived by her caring sons Jonathan and Jason Bethea, her brother Francell (Loretta), nephew Francell (Brittany) and a host of relatives and friends.
