Julius Raymond Yancey, son of the late Raymond and Augusta D. Yancey, transitioned on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Yancey was a Vietnam veteran, where he spent two terms in the United States Army. He joined the New Jonathan Creek Baptist Church in Oxford, North Carolina. Upon graduation from high school, he attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mr. Yancey also loved to sing. He had a deep baritone voice. He sang in several male groups: The Voices of Thunder of Brooklyn and the Male Chorus of Providence Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. In 1976 he married Ms. Mageline Bond.
Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clarence Yancey.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Mageline Yancey; daughter, Sandra Bond (Levi) of Chesapeake, VA; four grandsons: Tamidas (Danja) of Beacon, NY, Loui (Rachel) of Burlington, NJ, Levi of Chesapeake, VA, and Erik (Monique) of Virginia Beach, VA; five great grandchildren: King, Zoey, Kameron, Kire, and Kaelab; a sister, Dona Chandler (Donell) of Bullock, NC; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Yancey of Oxford, North Carolina; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
