Julius Lee Franklin

On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, God called home his faithful servant Julius “Junie Green” Franklin.  Julius was born on November 17, 1954 in Portsmouth, VA.  He was the youngest child of the late Charlie and Arlene Franklin.

Julius accepted the Lord at an early age.  He also served in the United States Navy as a store clerk.  He loved the Lord and united with Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Pastor E.T. Knight. One of his greatest joys was morning devotion and serving the Lord.  His favorite past time was listening to jazz, gospel and reggae music while telling past time stories and giving advice to his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his son, Dante Austin; his parents, Charlie and Arlene Franklin; five brothers, Ernest, Louis, Charlie, Raymond and David; four sisters, Betsy, Arlene, Stella, and Beatrice.  He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Janta Franklin-Eillis (Jason) of Chesapeake, VA, three sons, Marcus Franklin of Riverdale, GA, Darryl Futrell of Portsmouth, VA and Devante Hayes of Harrisonburg, VA; one brother, William Franklin of Portsmouth, VA; one sister, Mary Brockenbury of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters-in-law, Cora Franklin, Janet Franklin and Leila Franklin; nine grandchildren, Markeil Atkins, Markeim Franklin, Jayla Ellis, Darcell Debraux, Jah’ni Ellis, D’Marcus Debraux, Jamari Ellis, Dejah Debraux and D’Mario Debraux; one great grandchild, Promise Atkins and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, Eldridge Bolden and Robert Derrick Wilson.
