Our beloved Mother, Joyce Robinson, entered this life on January 19, 1943, to the late Junior Southall and Lillian Bracey in the city of Portsmouth, VA. She was called from this earthly body to her heavenly home with the Lord on February 2, 2025. At an early age, she married the late Robert E. Boyd, Sr., and from that union, they had six children. She was educated in Portsmouth, VA. Mother Robinson worked at Starband, later became a cashier for Centry Foodmart, and ended her work life at Joint Staff Forces in Norfolk, VA.
She really enjoyed singing, especially with Sis. Sonya Advent and the Voices of Praise, gathering at family celebrations and doing missionary work such as feeding the homeless and visiting nursing facilities. She also enjoyed cooking, and we especially loved her mac-n-cheese.
After dedicating her life to the Lord, she was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost, and she served the church faithfully. While living in North Carolina, she was an active member of the Kingdom of Christ Fellowship Church under the leadership of Bishop John Thompson. After relocating back home to Virginia, she was an active member of End Time Deliverance Church under the leadership of Pastor Madgie White. Later, she joined True Vine Pentecostal Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Cheryl Richardson and was a faithful member until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior Southhall and Lillian Bracey Cook, one grandson Robert E. Boyd, III, and one son-in-law, Jeffrey Pugh. She leaves to cherish most precious memories Annette Vanessa, Robin Brown both of Norfolk, VA, Yvette Thompson (John) of Greensboro, NC, Robert E. Boyd, Jr., Lamont R. Boyd, Sr., and Marvin L. Boyd (Pam) of Portsmouth VA. One sister, Bayyinah Tariq, sister in law, Barbara Boyd Dancy of Portsmouth VA, brother in law, Linwood A. Boyd of San Diego, CA, one aunt, Louise Bracey of Petersburg, VA, three special cousins, Sharon Brittle, Carolyn Brooks of Portsmouth, VA and Gwen Phillips of Chesapeake, VA, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
