Joyce G. Mozelle

On Wednesday April 13, 2022, Joyce Ann Goodwyn Mozelle NDTR, CDM, CFPP, Retired DSM, Mother, Aunt and Friend.  Joyce passed peacefully in her sleep at home and went on to be with the Lord.  She was born on June 26, 1943 to the late Gideon and Lucile Griffin Goodwyn.

She graduated from I.C. Norcom High School.  She furthered her education at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach VA, where she received her Associate Degree in Applied Science.  Joyce was a true believer of education.  She worked in the Food Service Industry when she retired after 30 years of service.  She retired from James River Convalescent Home, a member of the Virginia Health Services Group.

She accepted Christ at an early age.  She rededicated her life to Christ and joined First Baptist Church South Hill.  She is also a member of the Golden Vessels, Silver Sneakers and Red Hatters group.  Joyce loved to cook for her family and friends.  She had talent for inventing recipes.  Her cakes and pies was made with love and always brought a smile to your face.  Shopping was her passion.  She was kind, loving, generous, and understanding woman who exhibited a will to do, and a will to serve, and a heart to love.  She never failed to help her neighbors and always had love in her heart for others.  Her passing leaves a great void in the family and in the community.

She leaves in God’s care her 5 children; Mafreda Lodge of Portsmouth VA, Addison Reed Mozelle, Jr. (Mozart) of Douglasville, GA, Gwendolyn Spriggs (Missy) of Northern VA, Terry Mozelle (Bear) of Greenville, NC and Joy Mozelle of Chesapeake VA; 2 grandchildren, Omar Mozelle of Oxen Hill, MD and Debra Mozelle of Virginia Beach, VA; 1 great grandson, Gideon Mozelle of Oxen Hill, MD; other family members include her sister, Gwendolyn Bowman of Virginia Beach, VA.  5 In-laws; Marylou Baker of Chesapeake, VA, Grover Baker (Linda) of Oneonta, NY, Clarise Baker-Dover of Plainfield, NJ, Reverend Mozelle R. Clyburn of Plainfield, NY, and Deborah Gary of Norfolk, VA.  In addition, Joyce has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends left to mourn her passing.
