We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are hunted down but never abandoned by God. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
In a moment in the twinkling of an eye, Joyce Jennifer Bell, age 62, of Norfolk, Virginia, peacefully departed her earthly home on Monday October 4, 2021, and entered her heavenly home.
Our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend AKA “Aunt J or Joycie” was born on March 5, 1959. “Joycie” attended several Norfolk Public Schools and worked at the Sai Gai Chinese restaurant on Granby St in her early years. She enjoyed helping people and directing them to the appropriate resources in the City of Norfolk. She enjoyed it so much that her relatives and friends thought of her as their own personal social worker. She was an outgoing person with a vibrant personality to match, who loved her family and friends unconditionally. She was always one call away no matter the circumstance. Being around Joyce you were guaranteed a good laugh as she was a breath of fresh air to many. After overcoming many obstacles in her life, she would always say “Yeah! I won again! Nothing is too hard for God!”
Preceding Joyce in death are her parents Thurman and Frances O. Anderson Bell, Grandmother Bernice B. Anderson, her six brothers: James W. Anderson, Reginald N. Bell, Clifton E. Bell, Thurman Bell, Ronald N. Bell and Lawrence A. Bell, two sisters: Frances O. Hannah and Patricia Bell. Joyce leaves to cherish her memories three daughters: Shawanda R. Bell, Sasha L. Bell (Sungi), and Felicia L. Bell, two devoted lifelong special friends: Terrell Johnson and Leroy Daniels, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two brothers: Leonard Bell and Vincent Bell (Lisa), three sisters: Rosalee B. Wilkins (Mark), Christine Wiggins Bell (Terry) and Cheryl R. Thomas; two sister in laws Margaret Bell and Isalena Anderson, and a host of loving cousins ,nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives. She will be truly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
