August 13, 2020 at 8:39 amMama Joyce always welcomed me and I will forever be grateful for that. She was so funny and always kept me laughing. She would tell me to never stop smiling and gave me “pretty girl” as a nickname. Young folks don’t always realize the importance of having your elders speak to you, discipline you, and give you those wisdom tips. And, that is exactly what it was like being around Mama Joyce. She saw beyond the smile at times and would ask, “you sure everything is ok?” We need more elders like that in our generation. Thank you for your kindness and love, Mama Joyce. You are missed and I know you are looking over your family. I enjoyed all the talks, laughter, hugs, food, and hospitality shown towards me. You will not be forgotten. Thank you for your impact.
