Joyce Ann Cross

Sunrise: March 7, 1947

Sunset: August 2, 2022

Joyce Ann Cross was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She transitioned to be with our Lord and Savior on August 2, 2022 at the tender age of 75. Joyce Ann was born on March 7, 1947 to her beloved parents Odell and Moses Haskins in Norfolk, Virginia.

As a teenager, Joyce attended Booker T. Washington high school. She worked in the food industry before becoming a childcare provider. Joyce Ann ran her own in-home daycare through Social Services where she cared for and loved many children. This lasted from 1972 until 1998. Her love for taking care of people extended past just taking care of children as she took on the mother role for many of her friends and family. She had an open-door policy where she welcomed any and every one into her heart and home with open arms. Joyce Ann was known for her good cooking, particularly her potato salad.

Joyce Ann was predeceased by her mother and father Odell and Moses Haskins; the love of her life Albert Williams; one brother, Leon Morris; two sisters, Celestine Hunter and Jacqueline Woodbury; grandson Anthony Sanderlin; and her nephew, who she cared for like a son, Jermaine Graham.

Left to cherish sweet and fond memories, Joyce Ann leaves behind two sons Anthony Cross of Norfolk, VA and Albert Cross Sr. (Evelyn) of Norfolk, VA; one daughter Pamela Cross of Norfolk, VA; one special niece who she loved and raised as her own, Ciera Haskins of Norfolk, VA; one step son Anthony Reynolds (Debra) of Norfolk, VA; two step daughters Cartillias Downing of Norfolk, VA and Alvida Williams of Baltimore, MD; two sisters Adell Edmonds (Michael) of Norfolk, VA and Bernadette Murrell of Chesapeake, VA; six brothers Moses Morris (Doris) of Norfolk, VA, Ronald Hoskins (Gloria) of Norfolk, VA, Joe Hoskins (Monique) of Memphis, TN, Ricky Hoskins of Chesapeake, VA, Cornelius Fields (Virginia) of Virginia Beach, VA and Melvin Woodbury of Norfolk, VA; two grandsons Dontae Sanderlin (Camille) and Albert Cross Jr; four granddaughters Renee Sanderlin-Gelzer (Dwayne), Alicia Cross, Allyson Cross (Caneesha) and Alexis Cross. She also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

During her 75 years of life, Joyce Ann has touched and blessed so many people. We will miss her charm, laughter, wittiness, strong personality and most of all her unconditional love. Her friends and loved ones will never say goodbye, just a see you later for Heaven couldn’t wait for her, as she was truly an angel while here on Earth.
