Joy Anita Davis (Joynita) was born May 16 1956 in Norfolk, VA to Harold Slade and Dorothy Slade. She accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Lamberts Point, VA. She served faithfully until her health failed. Joy was called from her earthly home to heavenly rest on April 18th, 2021 after suffering a long illness at home. God said that Joy Davis was getting very weary and weak, so God called her home to receive her very deserving heavenly reward. Her work is now done, and the race is now completed.

She was educated in the Norfolk school system, and she worked as a personal care aide. She was a loving caring, happy person who loved her family and was very devoted to her them. Joy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt; she enjoyed helping others, and some of her favorite hobbies included cooking and cleaning. She loved a nice tidy house which made it a home for her family. You could always count on getting a friendly call from Joy, “How you are, how the kids are and how is the family, Love you and BYE!”

She was preceded in death by her Father Harold Slade and Mother Dorothy Slade, Paternal Grandparents Artist and Bessie Slade, Maternal Grandparents Arthur and Elizabeth Davis, Bothers Michal Davis and Timothy Slade. Joy Davis leave to cherish her memory her Husband James Davis Jr, her Son Jerome Slade (Mary Slade) of Suffolk, VA, her Daughter Patricia Slade of Norfolk, VA, her three sisters Sandra Cobbs (Burnett Cobbs), Sherry Scott (Melvin Scott) both of Norfolk, VA Crystal Smith (Corey Smith) of Ossining, NY, three bothers Harry Davis (Gazelle Davis) of Philadelphia, PA Ronnie Slade (Marlene Slade) of Norfolk, VA, Roy Slade New York, NY. Latoya Slade, Latisha Slade, Quenai Merchant of Norfolk, VA, Diamond Slade of Suffolk, VA, Jalicia Slade Cross of Virginia Beach, VA. Host of Niece and Nephews God Daughter Sheena Joy Jackson and Nicole Jefferson. Special friends Michelle Kellogg, Carolyn English and Joyce Hawkins,
Lucille Sue.

She will never be forgotten her legacy will live on forever through her family.
