Joshua O. Hardy

Sunrise: November 2, 1966

Sunset: May 31, 2019

Joshua Orion Hardy “aka” Dennis Angelo Hoskins, age 52, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2019; he changed his name to honor his grandfather, who was like a father to him. He was a Norfolk native and a Virginia Beach resident. Joshua was born on November 2, 1966 to Linda V. Hardy Hoskins and Willie E. Hoskins Sr. Joshua worked for the City of Virginia each Public Utilities Department for 4.5 years as an Engineering Technician, and for the City of Norfolk 12 years prior. He was  devout in his Christian faith, an avid Bible reader and enjoyed weekly Bible study; he also fellow-shipped with anyone he encountered—if you knew Joshua, you  knew the Lord.

Joshua is survived by his twin sister, Denise A. Smallwood (Lamont); brother and sisters, Willie E. Hoskins Jr. (Shirley); Cassandra “DD” Hardy; Linda E. Hardy; Linden E. “Lance” Hoskins (Regina); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He had the BEST sense of humor and always made us laugh; he also enjoyed playing the guitar. Joshua authored and illustrated a children’s book titled, “The ABC Book On Protecting Yourself From Strangers.” We will miss his smile, attentiveness and guidance; he will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.

I did not know Josh personally, but was affected by his tragic passing through the loss of his co-worker, Keith Cox. We will remember the innocence of these passings through the dastardly deeds of the suspect for years to come. I am praying for your comfort and consolation along with many.

To DD, Denise, Lance, Linda, Willie, and Family, I pray that you all can look to the Lord and find some kind of peace, comfort and or understanding during your time of mourning the loss of Dennis. We all know that he was a man of strong faith. I recall one of his favorite scriptures being Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. God will see you through!
It’s been a while but I recall some good ol times w/a good ol guy…until we meet again. ? (…and no disrespect in calling him Dennis…that’s just who he was when I was married to him) Love ALWAYS ❤

To Willie Jr., Dee Dee, Denise, Linda, and Linden,
It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through. Please remember,
Isaiah 57:1-2, 1 The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. 2 Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.
Thinking of and praying for all of you,
Donald, Ronald, Trent, Linda, and Maurice Mitchell
