Eldress Joshalan C. Mack, on Earth day June 4, 2019, our beloved Joshalan got the call from her heavenly father to come on home. The angels were already present to escort her home. Tuna, as she was affectionately known, was born on October 6, 1951 in Norfolk, VA. She was well known throughout the City of Norfolk having driven for the city of Norfolk school bus system for 30 years. She was also a staple in the Norview community. Joshalan served as the president and head coach for Norview kicker’s soccer organization for over 12 years. She had a love for children and was a mother figure to many. Her lover for children trickled into her working as the lead teacher at Bountiful blessings daycare for over 6 years.

Joshalan was a force to be reckoned with in the house of the Lord. She gave her life to Jesus Christ over 20 years ago and never looked back. She was a very faithful and active member of Resurrection and Hope Ministries formerly known as Pool of Bethesda Ministries. She loved the praise and dance teams as well as the street ministry where she loved leading people to the Lord. She had a unique booming laughter and soon had everyone around her laughing. She also loved prayer and deliverance ministry as well as an intercessory prayer warrior for her pastors Apostle Larry B. Cousins Sr. and Jacquelyn P. Cousins, the church and members as she declared were her family given to her by God.

Joshalan was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Virginia Gorum, husband, Louis Mack, brother, Ronald Lee Gorum, sisters; Vanessa and Sabrina Gorum. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters; Renee Ashby (Anton), Sheera Knight, Kenee Mack, and Tanya Byrd, sons; David Mack, Wilford Byrd Jr., Previn Byrd (Yvette) and Russhon Byrd, brothers; Johnnie Cooke (Wendy), Gary Gorum (Linda), and Andre Gorum, grandchildren; Anton, Ahmad, and Ashauna Ashby, Donshea and Treasure Mack, Shavail Eaton, Antonio Mack and Allister Knight, great- grandchildren; Deshawn Jones, Genesis Vaughan, Messiah Eaton and Deandre Butler, niece, Romania Whitehurst and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tuna Mack! Girl who would have thought that you would have gained your wings at such an early age. My condolences go out to your family and may the find comfort
in a time such as this that your love and memories will forever be in there heart. I first started working with tuna in 1987 at Laidlaw Transit and I learned a great deal while working with her. She was a hard worker, a go-getter and a person that always stood up for what was right, and always had a smile on her face. When she left from driving the school buses a great loss was gone and I myself started that journey of fighting for what was right for us as drivers., and I can say Tuna! you fought a good fight and you endured til the end. God makes no mistake when choosing his flowers and Tuna you were and always will be a beautiful flower. Sleep in peace my friend.
