Joseph Jarl Glover was born in Brooklyn New York on August 18, 1969 to Renee Cherly Glover and the late Joseph Key Cook. To honor the passing of his father; Joseph changed his name in 2005 to Joseph Jarl Glover- Cook. From the moment Joseph was born, he captivated his family and everyone he would come to know thereafter.
At an early age and many times throughout his life; Joseph accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Joseph attended New York’s public system from grades K-12. It was at Erasmus Hall High School Academy of the Arts where he found his lifelong passion for football and many of his friends.
It was at Erasmus Hall, where Joseph would also earn a scholarship to play Football at Virginia Union University where God would allow him to meet his would be wife for 32 years, Kimberly Carrol. Joseph played football at Virginia Union for 4 years while pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Joseph also earned a few tryouts to NFL teams; Oakland Raiders and New York Jets.
While in college Joseph and Kimberly would have their first child, JaQuan Jarl Glover. Jordan Manu Glover would come 5 years later as they continued to build their lives together.
Joseph was extremely brilliant and creative. His ideas and creativity was a testament to his involvement with his community. He was always in the mindset of taking care of his family and creating generational wealth. Joe allowed that same passion and love for his family infect his friends and community. To know him; is to know that he would do anything for you as best he knew how. If Joe told you he would do something; he would do just that.
No matter what enterprise Joe was involved in; he totally committed himself to coaching football. He was a mentor to thousands of young men. Joe literally touched the hearts of thousands of young men.
Joe coached with the recreational football team Wolfpack. He also started his own football organization; 7 Cities Silverbacks. Joe Coached with recreational football team, Virginia Cavaliers. Joe also coached as a defensive line coach at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Joseph was a member at Word in Seasons Ministry Family Life and Center for the past 9 years. If Joe would have any last words; he would say; Love God, Love your family and love others like there is no tomorrow.
Upon completing his journey with God, Joseph leaves behind to cherish his wife Kimberly Glover; two sons JaQuan Jarl Glover and Jordan Manu Glover; two grandsons, Jackson A’meer Glover and Braeleon Atreus Glover; His mother Renee Cherly Glover; four Brothers, Deon Hashan Glover, Kala Reeves, Francisco West and Antwone Robinson; 3 sisters; KyAnne Dudley, Geliqua Cook and Darnyelle Dawkins. Joseph Also cherishes a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and his dearest close brotherhood (The Dutchmen) lifelong/longlife friends.

August 25, 2020 at 8:55 amJoe, I still cant come to grips that you’re gone. We met in 1984 in the halls of Erasmus Hall Highschool from there we joined the football team pushing each other both in the books, on and off the field. Thus going off to Virginia Union University together in 1988.
Yet again pushing each other in the gym and in life we shared each others dreams and aspirations of becoming men while starting our family.
Nevertheless we did it , you did it Joe- You beat the odds of a black man raising your sons to be better than you while instilling strength and compassion to all you met along your walk with God. I’m certain Kim will receive the same strength and dominance you portrayed from your boys. Job well done rest up bro.
I will forever call you my brother from another, my family, my friend a child of God.
In closings I say this to my extended family the Glover cook family. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there in the physical, due to COVID-19 laws and guidelines.
But I am only a phone call away if you need someone to talk to about your dad the good bad and the ugly (Maybe?) LOL or you just need support in anyway shape or form please don’t hesitate to pick up the phone.
Love you All

October 28, 2021 at 4:13 pmOh my goodness. I can barely contain myself. My brother. My heart. You had nothing but love for me at Lefferts Junior HS (IH 71) and when I saw you on Church Ave., you were the inspiration to go on to E Hall. “Come on, Yves! We building!”
I love you, Joe… just spoke with you.
“It’s raining outside.”
“And it’s wet too.”
Love hard. That’s all we got in this world.
