Joseph Clyde Ruffin

Sunrise: May 22, 1955

Sunset: October 3, 2024

Joseph Clyde Ruffin of the 500 Block of Nelson Street in Norfolk was called home on Thursday, October 3, 2024. He was born on May 22, 1955, in Chesapeake, Virginia.  He was the son of the late John and Mary Ruffin.  Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Annette Ruffin, and three brothers, William Cox, Thomas Ruffin, and Clifton Ruffin.

Joseph was a retired government employee, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor.  Joseph wholeheartedly devoted his life to his loved ones and all those around him.  He enjoyed maintaining an eye-pleasing yard, performing do-it-yourself projects, and, in the most recent years, online shopping and home delivery services.  He was truly an example of being his brother’s keeper by always making himself available to help family, friends, and neighbors without any hesitation.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Andre Ruffin and Shawn Ruffin; four sisters, Peggie Murriell, Madora Ruffin, Lennette Harrell (Reginald), Vanessa Ruffin; three brothers John Ruffin (Melvina), Charles Ruffin, Michael Ruffin (Jacqueline); four grandchildren Kiara Ruffin, Amari Ruffin, Dalon Ruffin, and Lakayla Ruffin; nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved very much.
