Jory Monguel Johnson

Sunrise: February 13, 1988

Sunset: August 31, 2022

Hey everybody, you are reading this because I received the greatest promotion of my life. God, in His sovereignty, called me home to glory and I answered on the morning of August 31, 2022 in James City County, Virginia.

I was born on February 13, 1988 (an international holiday) in Portsmouth, Virginia to my mom, the late Erica Christie Johnson-Blow.  She and my grandmother, the Late Mother Margaret Johnson, reared me in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Guess what y’all, I had them both to myself for two years, then my brother, Vontrell came along, then it was the four of us.

I attended and graduated from the historic I.C. Norcom High School in 2006.  Then I matriculated and completed my studies at the St. Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, VA in 2010, with a degree in history. While there, I participated in many activities, my favorites being the Drumline and  Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  Those four years really stretched me and changed my life forever.

I am proud to say I have been a member of United Full Gospel Revival Center International Ministries, Inc. all my life, under the leaderships of Apostle Olivia D. Sharp, the late Apostle Dallas Ellis, and Sr. Pastor Janet B. Ellis, and most recent, Pastor Justus M. Sharp.  I started on Broad Street , sang in the youth choir, on Marshall Avenue, played drums for the mass choir  and participated in youth ministry at Chesapeake, and after college,as an adult, ministered in Weldon as Youth Leader, Praise and Worship Leader and commissioned as a Prophet of the Lord’s church. Evenso, ministry, music, and theater were my life’s enjoyments.  I have led and been a part of many choirs and groups: UFGRC music ministry, drama ministry, youth ministry, men’s ministry, Leadership team, I.C. Norcom Chorus, FCA choir, First Baptist Lawrenceville Choirs, and the International Choir Master. I was a lead powerhouse player with Powerhouse Productions with Apostle Despina Marie, who helped groom my theatrical abilities. I ministered my first sermon at the age of six years old, and truly God has had His hands on my life ever since. I have preached at many revivals, services, and retreats and many souls were won to Christ. Above all, after all that was said and done, my greatest accomplishment is that I made it to glory! I was saved, sanctified, filled with the precious Holy Ghost, anointed, and walked in power. It is well with my soul, and I am resting with Jehovah.

My memories will be lasting and forever with my dear brother Overseer Vontrell E. Johnson (Kayla), my nephew Isaiah and niece London, my granddaddy, Johnnie B. Johnson, and my aunt Patricia Johnson and aunt/Godmother Angela Fair (Donald), my Great-Uncle Stanley “Dewitt” Shepard, Jr. (Marie) and Great-Aunt Velma “Arlene” Davis . In addition,a host of cousins, my U.F.G.R.C. church family, St. Paul’s College family, 1st Baptist Lawrenceville choirs family and friends will miss my presence. But remember everyone, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, if you live right. You will see me again.

I miss you already Jory *tears*
You have truly been a blessing to First Baptist Church Voices of Joy and the Junior Choir from day one. You will never be forgotten and you will live on in our hearts and in our thoughts. So thankful our paths crossed…you started off as a musician for the church, to becoming a family member to each of us. Your job here on Earth is done, sleep in peace.
