Jonathan D. Jefferson was born on February 9, 1930, to the late John and Willa Jefferson. He was a member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA. Jonathan was born and raised in New York City and relocated to Virginia in 1989.
Jonathan worked for the New York City Transit Authority for many years and became a bridge tender in Chesapeake as well as a volunteer officer for the Chesapeake P.D.
He was married to Barbara J. Jefferson and lived a peaceful life with her until his passing.
He leaves to mourn children: Joseph Jefferson, Jennifer Jefferson, Joane Jefferson Schofield; grandchildren: Jonathan Schefield, Christopher Schofield, Josiah Hamilton, Kave Jonathan Schofield; and brother, Theodore Jefferson. He was predeceased by his brother, Alonzo Jefferson.
Jay, as we affectionately called him, had a loving spirit and was a true man of God. He will be truly missed and his memory will be a treasure in our hearts.
