Johnni Mae Elizabeth Gregory was born on April 30, 1937, in Norfolk, VA. She was the youngest child born to the late John Gregory and Lillian Davis Gregory. Johnni was called home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2025, with her loved ones surrounding her. Johnni accepted the Lord at a very early age. During that time, she was a member of St. John A.M.E Church in Norfolk, VA, and attended the church with her mother and sisters. Johnni was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, VA.
As an army military spouse, Johnni traveled the world extensively with her husband and children to California, Germany, Massachusetts, Bangkok, Thailand, Niagara Falls, and Buffalo, New York before returning to her home in Chesapeake, VA. She took care of her mother, aunts, and uncles. She may have birthed 6 children, but she was a mom to many. If you ever came over to her house, you never left with an empty stomach. She was an excellent homemaker who loved to cook, sing (Opera), and shop. Johnni was a very classy dresser from head to toe. She was a woman with a quiet and gentle spirit and a loving mother.
Johnni joined St. Thomas A.M.E Zion Church of Norfolk, VA, in the late 60s and would attend whenever she came back home. She served quite a few ministries. The Mass Choir, Hospitality Club, Progressive Club, Foodbank, Season Tea, Scholarship ministry, and Willing workers ministry.
She had six children: two sons, Kenneth W. Seabron, Chesapeake, VA, and Steven J. Seabron, Worchester, MA, and four daughters, Karen A. Mason (deceased), Sharon A. Seabron, Alexandria, VA, Janet A. Murphy (Toye), Virginia Beach, VA and Kathy A. Seabron (deceased). Nine grandchildren, Delvina, Vanita, and April Brown; Terrence, Courtney, Sharmeka, and Ebony Seabron; Tasha Holman and Elijah Murphy. Nine great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, former spouse Jethro Seabron, Virginia Beach, VA, one brother-in-law Melvin Goode Sr., Sacramento, CA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We will miss her quiet, gentle spirit.
