On May 13, 2022, John Cortez McInnis, 26, a beloved father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, boyfriend, and cousin departed from this life to his eternal resting place.

Cortez attended Norfolk Public Schools and went to become employed as a packer with Enterprise Van Lines. Cortez was a hardworker and always made sure he gave his all to get the job done. With this opportunity, he was able to travel the United States while working alongside his brother, Traquon Townes.

Cortez was well known throughout the Southside Community. He was a humble, dedicated, loyal, easy going, and loving man of few words. He loved playing video games, providing for those he cared about, and spending time with his children and family.

He is predeceased by his Great-Grandparents, Thomas McLean Sr. and Cora Lee McLean; Grandfathers Willie Lee Lashley, Milton ‘Moose” Edwards. A special person Ms. Chi-Chi Foreman, and a close friend Nuke Blakeley.

He leaves to his memory, Grandmother Gloria “Tee” McInnis, Mother Sonya McInnis, Father Joseph Cobb, and long-time companion Diondra Forman; two sons Jontez McInnis and Cevyn McInnis; two sisters Gloria McInnis and Tracey  McInnis. One brother, Traquan Townes; two aunts Tracey McInnis and Crystal McInnis; one niece Milan McInnis; two uncles John McInnis and Raymond McInnis. Four special cousins Nicole, George, Teshana, Crystal McInnis, and a host of cousins, great aunts, uncles, and friends.

May we all remember the legacy of love, selflessness, and devotion to family and friends that John leaves behind.
