John Charles Humphries, Jr. was born to the parents of John C. Humphries, SR and Gloria J. Humphries on October 5, 1990. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Annie Hillmon Alvin, Johnny and Irene Humphries ; seven uncles, Ronnie Alvin, Bobby R. Alvin, Bryan K. Alvin, Allen B. Humphries, Phillip Humphries, Ivor R. Humphries and California Humphries; three aunts, Mary L. Fizer, Marie Garner and Peggy Humphries.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, John and Gloria Humphries; one sister, who he adored, Karen L. Norman; two nephews, Marcell D.D. Alvin and Michael L. Norman; six aunts, Peggy L. Coakley (James), Carol Tabron, Evangeline Dozier (Wilbert), Loraine Benard (Thomas), Candy Moore and Barbara A. Taylor; two uncles, Bonnie E. Alvin, III and Walter M. Alvin (Eleanora); God-mother, Evangeline Dozier; God-brother, Dantè Dozier; God-sister whom he loved deeply, Miesha S.E. Alvin, best friend whom he loved like a brother, DeAnthony Epps, and a host of cousins and friends.

John was a 2008 graduate of Granby High School in Norfolk. He studied Journalism and Mass Communications at Norfolk State University. He was employed as a Community Health Navigator for over eight years. John was always busy enjoying and living life to the fullest. He enjoyed BQ runway ballroom hair shows where he won many trophies and awards. On June 11, 2016, he was deemed, Legendary. John enjoyed traveling from state to state performing and participating in hair shows and dance competitions.

John idolized Beyoncè and Rihanna. If you didn’t know or come correct, John would inform you of the correct information because he knew everything about these two performers. He went to every concern near and far for these performers. John took pleasure in making everyone around him feel like family whether it was bartending and making his special drinks, fixing food for any celebration, especially when his sister asked, it was always delivered.

John was the heart of his family and was loved by so many. His mission for his family was to stay together, connected and enjoying life together. We love you John (Lil’ Daddy). Rest in Heaven.

    God puts on us no more than we can bare. He only takes the best and that’s exactly what he got when he sent his Angel’s to bring Lil Daddy home. He will forever be missed and will always be in our hearts. Such a loving person. Our prayers and condolences to the Humphries and Karen. Love yall.

    John was a former math student of mine at NSU. He was very kind and extremely creative. I was so proud of the work he was doing in the community. He leaves big shoes in which to walk. Prayers for strength for his family.

    Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. In the short time of knowing John, he was always very kind and a fun-loving person. I’m sad about his passing, but rejoicing that he is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Sending prayers of comfort, love and strength to his family and many, many close friends.     It was always a pleasure being around you! Your spirit and personality was bubbly and always stayed ready to give someone a hug! You may no longer be here with us throughout the years but one thing for sure, you will never be forgotten. You left many memories on earth and I’m glad to be around for some of them. To VA’s Runway Assassin and Legendary One I salute you and want you to continue resting as your job was done well here on earth.
