Mr. Joe D. Landy departed this life on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Chesapeake Regional Hospital in Chesapeake, VA. He was born February 27, 1949, to the late Louise Parker in Norfolk, VA. His early years of education he attended Jacox Jr. High and Booker T. Washington High School. Joe joined the Longshoreman Association, where he was employed for 35 years and retired as a loyal employee and Dock Boss.

Joe enjoyed coaching football for many years. He also enjoyed playing cards, good eating, listening to music, and just having a good old-fashioned good time with family and friends. Joe truly was a Gentle Giant! He enjoyed helping people in any way he could, i.e., with encouraging words, offering a ride, offering financial assistance, and just lending a helping hand. Joe was a good man!

He is preceded in death by Louise Parker, and his brother, Vannie Parker

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Landy; two children, Natasha Phelps and Cameron Stewart (Chesapeake, VA); one grandson, Sgt. Nick Phelps (Tennessee), three great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Gladys Parker (Fayetteville, NC) and Regina Frazier (Rodney) (Norfolk, VA), special friends, Spence and Rick, and a host of family and friends.
