On November 3, 1956 Jerome was born with his twin Gary to his parents Charles and Marilyn Ford, of Newark, NJ. He attended 18th Avenue Grammar School, west Kinney Jr. High, and Central High School, graduating in 1974. He went on to attend Cheyney State College. Before completion, he relocated and began work for Drakes Bakery and developed in a love for baking, which complimented his skill for cooking. He loved sports. He was a devoted NY Nets and Giants fan. After careful consideration, he enlisted in the US Navy and studied technology. After completing his time in the military services, he began employment Deloitte, Haskins, & Sales of NY. The company switched locations after being spared from the World Trade Center bombings. In 2001, the new location was under direct attack of the 911 bombings. Graciously God had allowed him to see the planes circling prior to impact and Jerome fled the building. Dealing with extensive grief for the happenings of that tragic day, he decided to relocate to Virginia. He was welcome by his best friend Zellious Briscoe. In Virginia, he established new life filled with joy, hope, promise, and marriage.
Jerome is preceded in death by his twin brother Gary Ford, his older brother Darryl Ford, and their father Charles Ford. He is survived by his loving wife Karen D. Green, two biological children Jermaine and Sioban Ford, four stepchildren Kira Green, Rudolph Green, Rocshena Griffin, and KeRon Green, a granddaughter Jayla, his mother Marilyn Ford, his sister Gail Ford, his brother Craig Ford, four nieces, Monisha, Shatiyah, Nishaya, Alisha, two sisters in law Emma Boone and Regina Green, one brother in law Theodore Green, three special aunts Sandra, Iona, and Carletta, his best friend Zellious Briscoe, along with a host of other relatives, friends, and his church family.
Jerome was loved and adored by many. He will truly be missed as we remember his heartwarming laugh and smile. He was a treasure to his family and friends. His love, kindness, and care for others will live on in our memories.
