Jermod Marlowe “Skip” Hill, 50, of Portsmouth, VA, transitioned from this life on January 29, 2025. With heavy hearts and profound love, we celebrate the life of a beloved son, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.
Born on July 4, 1974 in Portsmouth, VA, Jermod was the son of Jeanette Hill and the late John R. Hill. He was educated in Portsmouth Public Schools and received his General Education Diploma from I.C. Norcom High School. Jermod furthered his education by successfully completing training as a journeyman electrician and earning his CDL certification from Tidewater Community College.
Throughout his life, Jermod worked with dedication and pride, utilizing his skills as an electrician and in various other roles that showcased his hardworking nature. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to always lend a helping hand to those in need.
Jermod’s life was filled with love for his family and friends. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons, Dior “G-G” and Dorian “Doe-Doe.” He also enjoyed attending church service with his niece Erica and cheering for his favorite football team, the Washington Commanders. Jermod was a man of many great qualities he was always well-dressed, loved to converse with intelligence and humor, and brought joy to everyone with his infectious spirit.
Jermod was predeceased by his father, John R. Hill; maternal grandparents, Wayvous and Virginia Bobbitt, paternal grandmother, Sarah Stancil, and uncle Wayvous Bobbitt, Jr. He is survived by his beloved mother, Jeanette Hill; his daughters, Ashanti Blair, Jaquae Hill, and Raven Hill; his grandchildren, Dorian Blair, Dior Coles; two aunts, Barbara Barner (George) and Crystal Harvey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Special relationships also include his cherished cousins, Tannisha Bell and Mashauna Boothe (Andre), and her children, Whitney, Erica, and Jacori; three bonus daughters, Shikera Griffin (Drakkar), Raven Mills, and Chloe Yancey; his best friends, Mike Nicholas and Toby Pettaway; and a special friend who was dear to his heart Fikeria Yancey.
Jermod leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, love, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jermod was a very fine young man, you can be proud of the person he had become and the way you raised him. I will miss seeing and speaking to him as he took his daily walk to the store.
