It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that we celebrate the life of Jean Fleming Dixon, who left us peacefully on March 6, 2025. Born on September 16, 1946. Jean was a beloved wife and a devoted parent/grandparent, always putting family first and cherishing every moment spent with loved ones. An esteemed member of the community, Jean was loved by all. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Ruth Fleming; a sister, Patricia Smith; and a brother, Danny Fleming. She leaves behind a husband, Glenn Dixon; brothers, Wallace Fleming Jr., Randolph Fleming and wife Judy, Larry Fleming (aka Crab man) and Calvin Fleming; sisters, Janet Stringer and husband Andre, and Loretta Fleming; daughters, Loretta Walker, Sherry Carrecter and husband Andre; son, Irvin Lamont Smith and wife Deneise; daughter, Tiffany Smith King and friend Nakiyah Williams; stepdaughter, Glenda Boykins; stepson, Daniel Dixon and wife Lynette, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean was raised in Norfolk, Virginia, and attended George Washington Carver High School. It was during these formative years that Jean developed the qualities of kindness, perseverance, and dedication that would define her life.
After completing her education, Jean embarked on a successful career in health care. She worked tirelessly as a health aide for several years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Jean was known for her innovative ideas, unwavering commitment, and ability to inspire others. Her contributions to the health care service have left a lasting impact and legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
Jean married her soulmate, Glenn Dixon, in 2024, and together, they built a loving home filled with joy, laughter, and countless memories.
Outside of her professional life, Jean had a passion for Paparazzi jewelry. She enjoyed Bingo, and her love for thrift store shopping was well-known to all who knew her. Jean was also an active member of her church, where she dedicated her time and efforts to serving God.
Jean’s kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. Her unique ability to make people feel valued and loved and her positive outlook on life were truly inspiring. Friends and family will always remember Jean for her generosity, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Jean was a shining light in our lives, and her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire us all. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Jean (Never Would-a-Made It) Fleming Dixon. You will never be forgotten.
