Our beloved mother and grandmother, Janet “Nana” Alleyne, was called home on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, at 5:12am. She was born on April 20th, 1952, to the late Henry and Evelyn Jones in Alabama. Janet grew up in a loving home in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was the nineth child out of eleven. Janet attended Boston Public Schools, graduating from Jamaica Plain High School.
Janet married her husband and best friend, Anthony Alleyne, on December 29th, 1973. They moved to Virginia when Anthony was assigned to the USS Eisenhower in 1977. They were married for 22 years before they decided to separate.
In 1992, Janet graduated the Mansfield School of Business Pharmacy Technician program, and began her career with Boone Clinic soon after. Janet loved working at Boone Clinic and made many strong and lasting friendships with a company that treated her like family. She worked at Boone Clinic until she retired.
Janet was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter, Kimberly Alleyne, and two grandchildren, Antoinette Rogers and Areona Alleyne-Williams. She embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Nana”. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh.
Janet was predeceased by her sister, Sarah Hall, and three brothers, Walter Jones, Larry Jones, and Robert Jones. She leaves to cherish her memories to three sisters, Laura Bryant (Icsom Bryant), Gwen Jones, and Essie B. Foster; three brothers, Henry Jones Jr., Harvey Jones, and Leon Jones; a grandson-in- law, Shquan Rogers; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Janet was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman. Janet will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace, and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
