James Singleton, Jr.

James Singleton, Jr. passed away on June 22, 2019. He was born November 30, 1954 to Maggie Ruth Singleton and Primrose Singleton. James was raised by his maternal grandmother, Annie Spain Wooten. He attended Pitt County Schools and graduated from North Pitt High School class of 1973. Upon graduation, he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he worked at Local Union 66 Construction Company for 28 years. After retiring he relocated to Norfolk, VA. James loved to dance back in the day and spending time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Primrose Singleton, Maggie Singleton and his long-time companion, Rhonda Burton. He is survived by his children, Latoya Burton of Norfolk, VA, Monique Hollis of Greensville, NC, Saundra Carr (Cory) of Waterbury, CT; one son, Jason Hollis of Greenville, NC; two sisters, Geraldine Singleton of Greenville, NC and Patricia Singleton Outlaw (Gary) of Greenville, NC; three brothers, Robert Earl Singleton (Anne) of Flushing New York, Dennis Wooten of Raleigh, NC and Jessie Spain of Raleigh, NC; five aunts, Johnnie Ann Wooton of Greenville, NC, Carrie Everette (Arthur) of Murfreeboro, NC, Bessie Chapman, (Kimbal) of Vanceboro, NC, Brenda Edwards (Willie) of Vanceboro, NC and Sarah McKerthen (Bobby) of Newbern, NC; four uncles, Azil Wooten of Greenville, NC, Elmon Wooten of Greenville, NC, Thomas Singleton (Lois) of Vanceboro, NC and Jerry Singleton (Sarah) of Newbern, NC.; grandchildren, Skylah White, Kiyah White, Aniyah White, Jerymii White, Jakayla Moore, Jasonti Hollis, Mar’Quez Ebron and Makailah Carr and a host of relatives and friends.
