James Roger Sessoms, Jr. 63, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. He was born October 1, 1956 in Bertie County Hospital in Windsor, North Carolina. James was known by many of his friends as “Lil James” and “B.J.”. He was educated in Norfolk Public Schools where he attended Diggs Park Elementary and Lake Taylor High School. He used to sing with the gospel group called the Gospel Redeemers from Berkley. James worked at Southland Industrial Corporation, Newport News Shipyard and R and R Railroad. James loved spending time with his family and friends and reading the Bible. He enjoyed living a simple life as he got older, talking to family and friends about the Bible. He enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, James Roger Sessoms, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Fannie Sessoms; two brothers, Gordon Sessoms and Larry Sessoms; two sisters, Loria Brown (Michael) and Sondra Sessoms; two nieces, Latoya Sessoms and Mercedes Ingram; one nephew, Larry Sessoms, Jr. and one great nephew, Tory Harris as well as a host of cousins and friends.
