James Luther Wilson departed this life on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. James was born on February 8, 1950, in Washington, DC, to the late Cleo Howard Wilson and Corean Griffin Wilson.
James attended public school in the Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties. From a young age, James had a love and passion for working on cars. He was dedicated to serving others, whether through his career as an auto mechanic or simply being a confidant to his friends and family.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Wilson and Gloria Jean Wilson, and a special friend, Mary Lou Creekmore Thompson.
James’ memories will live on forever in the hearts of his two sisters, Bernice G. Cannon of Sedley, VA, and Annie Mae Wilson of Portsmouth, VA; two brothers, Percell Wilson (Vanessa) and Raymond Wilson of Portsmouth, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; special god-children whom he loved as his own, Maggie Dempsey, Brenda Rogers, Carla Rogers, Antonion Thompson, and Samantha Richardson.
James was deeply committed to his faith and community and was known for his bold and courageous spirit. His unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. His energy and passion for life will never be forgotten. His legacy of love, compassion, and truth will continue to inspire all who knew him.
