James was born October 30, 1981 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was called to be with the Lord on August 07, 2020 in Alexandropoulos, Greece. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Betty E. Tucker and paternal grandmother Alice M. Burrus.
He was educated in Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Maury High School. Jimmy accomplished swimming at the early age of 3yrs old and swam competitively at that age. He continued to swim and compete through his high school years on neighborhood swim teams. He was also a self-taught tennis player. James played on the Maury Tennis team, where he excelled winning first and second place trophies for his single and double matches in 1997-99. He was a main force in helping Maury secure another All District Championship title in 2000.
Jimmy was a lifeguard with the City of Norfolk for several years when he decided to pursue a career with the Military Sealift Command. Where he loved to travel and see all the world had to offer. He always said he had the best job in the world, with what it allowed him to do and the places he saw. He would often say “I’ve seen and been to places some people will never have the opportunity or desire to see or do the things I have done. I’M LIVING & I’VE LIVED A GOOD LIFE”.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his parents James and Beverly T. Evans, maternal grandparents Mr. Curtis Wilkins (Mattie), great aunt Mary R. Garrison, Aunts and Uncles Mrs. Joyce Wilson, Ms. Patricia Evans, Mrs. Margo Williams (Kenneth), Mrs. Mary Chambers (Roy), Mr. David L. Burrus (Della) Ms. Lisa Wilkins, Mrs. Debra Wiggins, Mrs. Regina Richardson(Stephan), Mrs. Phyllis Reynolds (Gaston) Mr. Antonio White(Evalena), Mrs. Sheila Evans, Mr. Elwood Taylor, Mr. Robert Burrus, Mrs. Cynthia Anderson (Tyrone), Mr. and Mrs. Colvin Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gibson, Mr. Bruce Wilkins, Ms. Janet Harvey. Jimmy also had a host of cousins and friends, who he loved and considered his brothers and sisters.
