James Carlton Zachary quietly passed away at Chesapeake Regional Hospital to be with the Lord on April 10, 2025. James was born on February 11, 1935, in Suffolk, VA, to Jessie Zachary and Gertrude Walker-Beamon. During his work career, he worked for 20 years at Richardson Battery in New Brunswick, NJ, as a maintenance mechanic.
At an early age, James found and married the love of his life, Emma Clarine Felton. James was preceded in death by his three brothers, Milton Zachary, Alton Beamon, James Beamon, and his sister, Diane Beamon.
James is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Emma Zachary; four children, Lisa Zachary of Raleigh, NC, Beverly Zachary-Roberts of Durham, NC, Natalan Zachary of Woodbridge VA, and Carlton Zachary of Fulshear, TX; one sister, Silvia Hicks of Yonkers, NY; son in law, Dino Roberto; daughter in law, Margaret Zachary; four grandchildren, Tanika Zachary, Alyeia Solomon, Travis Stubbs, and Marissa Zachary; eight great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters in law, Victoria Beamon, Edith Britton, Lois Felton and Eva Williams along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

1 Corinthians 13:13 ~ “and how these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
