On Tuesday, July 31, 2018, James C. “Moe” Bagley, Jr. peacefully transitioned into heavenly paradise. Born September 30, 1952 in Portsmouth, VA, he was the eldest son of 4 children to James C. Bagley, Sr. and Mamie L. Bagley. Growing up, Moe enjoyed playing basketball and picking fights with his younger brother, Phillip. Later, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS John Kennedy before being honorably discharged in April 1978.
Moe most enjoyed relaxing, listening to oldies, spending time with family, watching movies, comedy shows and football. He even occasionally had his famous “holiday headache” excuse so he could secretly watch the Dallas Cowboys play. And although he wasn’t much of a tennis fan, he was fond of watching the talent of Serena Williams. He was known for his especially warm smile, taught us how to enjoy the fullness of life through the simple pleasures and was a loving son, loyal brother, proud father, grandfather, uncle & friend.
We know that we never lose the people we love and that they continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an imprint in our memories and we find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.
Moe’s trailblazing parents, James C. “Duke” Bagley, Sr. and Mamie L. Bagley cleared his path to paradise. He leaves to cherish him, his children: Candace Head (Deborah), Natalie Hairston (Karen), James C. “JC” Bagley III and Brian Sauls (Louise); Siblings: Velnita M. Morris (Donovan), Phillip O. Bagley (Karen) and Carolyn J. Bagley; 5 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

August 4, 2018 at 3:23 amVelnita, Phillip and Carolyn,
Mo (Jr.) was a wonderful neighbor and like another brother to me. He never tired of the endless questions I always had for him nor the shenanigans Carolyn and I always got into especially on weekends. I hold a special place in my heart for all of my second family, the Bagley’s,. God bless all of you especially at this difficult time. Love, Laureen
