On Sunday, April 28, 2019, our bright and shining star departed his home to reunite with his Heavenly Father at 6:15pm from Sentara, Virginia Beach, VA. Irvin “Beauty”McCoy Lassiter was born on September 11, 1948 to the late Samuel R. Lassiter and Claytie H. Lassiter in Aulander, North Carolina. He was raised in North Carolina by his grandmother Dorothy Harris.At the age of 9 he moved to Portsmouth, VA with his parents. He was the third of five siblings. He attended S.H. Clarke Academy in Portsmouth, VA. After that, he attended I.C. Norcom High School. In his early years he worked at ABX, Atlantic Wood Industries “Creso”, and as a Custodial Worker at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. After that he
joined the International Longshoreman Association (ILA) where he retired and became an entrepreneur in the salvage business. As an entrepreneur, he enjoyed junking as a hobby working alongside James Harris “Uncle Bud” He was invited to attend a service at the United House of Prayer for All People by his late Mother in-law, Sister Ethel Skinner. He then found joy and joined United House of Prayer.

Irvin was indeed a loving and multi-talented man with a heart of gold. Irvin was very dedicated to fulfilling his purpose in the “good work” of the Lord. He was a very popular and hardworking man who never backed down from any challenge. His determination and faithful attitude inspired many, especially those he knew and loved. To know Irvin was to love Irvin. There was never a time that he did not strive to give his best to bring joy and smiles to all walks of life. Irvin loved giving back and enjoyed quality family time with a
gorgeous smile. Irvin was an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. Irvin was predeceased in death by his parents, Samuel R. Lassiter (Claytie); grandmother, Dorothy Harris; brothers, Randolph Lassiter and Alphonso Lassiter; daughter Carlice Gatling; son, James Walker, and brother in-law James Waffe.

Irvin had a very strong love for his entire family. He helped each member of his family very near and dear to his heart, especially his devoted wife Barbara. Irvin leaves to cherish in memories of 47 years to his loving wife, Barbara and they shared a blended family of 8 children: Sherman Walker, Minister Patricia Epps (Terry), Anthony Walker, all of Norfolk, VA, Rosalyn Henderson (Edward) of Boydton VA, Karen Lassiter of Fayetteville, NC, and Harriett Parham Robinson of Norfolk, VA; brother Russel Lassiter (Shirley) of NC; one uncle Lloyd Harris of PA; four aunts Mary A Harris of PA, Dorothy Harris of Newport News, VA, Dora Mae Lassiter and Janie Lassiter both of NC.,brother in-law, Vincent Skinner (Willie Mae) of Norfolk, VA; 5 sister in-laws Geraldine Lassiter, Shirley Flemming and Sue Mae Waffe of Portsmouth, VA, Charlene Hall and Deloris Tillery both of Norfolk, VA; He leaves to cherish 30 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory, two grandchildren that he raised as his own, David “DK” Parham and Andrea “Bede” Harriette Parham andtwo Godly children Joshua and Darlene Brown.
