On January 25, 2021, Irene C. Rivers went home to be with the lord. She was born on October 8, 1967 in Portsmouth, Virginia, she resided in Norfolk Virginia. Irene was the youngest daughter to her predeceased parents, Irene and Solomon Chatmon, three brother’s Richard, Nathaniel, James and one sister Alice all of Portsmouth Virginia.
On December 15, 2005, Irene was united in holy matrimony to James Allen Rivers. Irene leaves behind five children, Marice (Kevin), Jamilla (Khajhah), Mark (Khadijah), Marcus (Kimberly), and Marquis (Sherry). Irene is also survived by eleven beautiful grandchildren, Amya, Raquan, Raniya, Javeah, Amarion, Brianna, Janae, Kameron, Aiesha, Jasmine, and Ryhan that she loved dearly. Ms. Irene also leaves behind three siblings, Laura Battle, Catherin Steward, and Lawrence Chatmon: three extraordinary friends Maurice Ward, Laney Clinton, and TK. Along with many other loved ones.
Ms. Irene attended Harry Hunt Jr. High school in Portsmouth Virginia. Irene attended Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. She worked faithfully for Norfolk Naval Shipyard and SPC. Irene was always willing to go out of her way to help anyone in need. She had a gentle sprit, she was always the “life of the party,” and always willing to sacrifice for others.
