Inez Sessoms

Sunrise: December 14, 1930

Sunset: November 27, 2018

On Tuesday, November 27, 2018 our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Ms. Inez Sessoms “Candy Lady” slipped away into eternal Rest. She was born on December 14, 1930 in Norfolk, VA. She attended Norfolk County Public Schools.

Inez was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ in Norfolk, VA. She was a faithful member for most of her life. She was a woman of great character and had a deep seeded love for children. For four generations she sold sweets, gave lessons of morality, respect and love towards others in the Diggs Park area. She was a mother and grandmother to every child that knocked on her door. She was the mother of eight, the grandmother of 39 and great grandmother of 19; all of whom loved her dearly.

She was predeceased by a son, Shefford Sessoms and sister, Yvonne Robertson (Aunt Miki). She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: four daughters, Jo O’Neal (Melvin), Deborah Gregory (Mike), of Norfolk, VA, Nevone Davis (Anthony) and Carthinare Holmes (Donald) of Chesapeake, VA; four sons, James, Vernon (Collette) and Carl Sessoms of Norfolk, VA, and Waverly Brown of Portsmouth, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

I’m very sorry for the loss of your loved one. Losing a loved one is heartbreaking. Please know that others care and that our loving Heavenly Father heals the broken-hearted, Psalm 147:3. Please remember the promise made to us at John 5:28,29. Just as Christ raised his friend Lazarus, he will do the same for our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death
