Obituary

Written by Hermine

I

I was born on February 21, 1949, to Jasper and Olivia Edney. They provided me with one of the happiest homes in Lamberts Point. Fredrecia, Kim and may baby brother who you recall grew to be one of my best friends. Phillip (Mary) and I were blessed, loved and taught to love God and our fellow man regardless of their circumstances. You know I thought we were rich; I did not know Lamberts Point was considered ghetto until I heard others around the city say so. Lamberts Point I thought then and now was a beautiful place and the friends I had as a child stayed by me in my illness. I was educated in Norfolk Public Schools and North Carolina Central University. I was employed by Norfolk Public Schools for 35 years. Puddin and I was married for 48 years. We raised on child Jerron. She gave us the loves of my life, Mateo (Bud), Miranda (Lady), and Jacob. These two gave joy and unconditional love. Thank you Bud and Lady. I am the Auntie to Little Phillip, Quiera, Kiyonte, Phyllish, Felyisha, Phyliah, Freddie, Brandon, (Journee and Eilija), Justin, Jessica, Jennifer, Jasmine, and Alva. I am Ms. Hermine to D.J., Arlene, Dominque, T.C., and Bubbie. My dear friends who were there for me always; Gilda Chavis, Glenn Richardsomn, Grace Taborn, Lois Simon, Demrice Webster (Road Dog), Pattie Edwards, Mrs. Delores Cox, Mrs. Mason, Mary Moore, Brenda Turner, Gloria Roundtree, Fred Roundtree, deceased Mr. Barfield and Mr. Armstrong, Ms. Sweat, and Vickey Moore. To everyone who calls me Grammie, Auntie or Ms. Hermine, put God first and respect others and always remember β€œTo Whom much is given is required,” my daddy told me that from the time I was 3 years old. Be the best you can be! A special thanks to Dr. Keith Newby, Dr. Amando Wyatt, and the staff of Sentra Norfolk Hospital.
