Helen J. Battle departed this life on October 6, 2019. Helen was born June 21, 1936 to late Howard and Elizabeth Harrell in
Norfolk, VA. She was educated at Booker T. Washington High School. Helen retired from Nauticus. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Battle and two daughters, Toni Harrell and Yvonne Booker. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Glenda Youngs (Ernesto) Rosalyn Sykes (Pendleton) and Helena Owens (Marshall); eighteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

October 27, 2019 at 5:39 pmmy deepest sympathy to Helen’s family, my name is Elaine, I got to know Helen just a little giving her rides for treatments, her nickname for me was ladybug, this afternoon, I found 2 ladybugs and couldn’t help but think of her and I believe in signs and I feel this was her. We had planned to stay in touch. Though we only knew each other for a short spell, we hit it off and what an inspiration she was. Had I known I would have definitely been there to pay my respects…RIP sweet lady, she said I was a gift from God to her, truth be know she was gift from God to me.
