On May 7, 2022, Helen Virginia Foreman was called home to be with the Lord. Helen Virginia Allen was born on March 25, 1927, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Joseph and Luvenia Allen. She attended Norfolk Public Schools and worked at the Cort Plant Chesapeake, Virginia for nine years.
She is preceded in death by her brothers: Joseph Allen Jr., Willie Allen, Albert Allen, and Curtis Allen; sister: Beulah Allen; husband Charles E. Foreman Jr; children: Shelton M. Foreman, Alphonso W. Foreman, and Clifton E. Foreman.
She accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Campostella where she sung in the legendary “Gospel Choir.” She loved to attend church, Sunday school, and quartet concerts.
Helen was married to the late Charles E. Foreman Jr for over fifty years. To their union, eight children were born. Helen, affectionately known as “Holla” by her children was a fiercely dedicated mom and grandmother, raising all eight of her children and grandchildren to go on to accomplish great things. Family and God came first and was above all else, a value she instilled in all those around her. She enjoyed watching the news, soap operas, and game shows. She was well aware of current events and political news. Helen was an avid traveler and loved to visit new places. She also loved to watch football and would cheer every Sunday for her beloved Washington Redskins.
Helen was an amazing cook. She was famous for her fried chicken, collard greens, potato salad, rice pudding, nut & raisin cake, and fried fish on Fridays. She had such a gentle sweet spirit that could be felt by every person she met. She was a pillar and mother to many in the Campostella community for over seventy years.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her brother; David Allen of Norfolk, Virginia; children: Barbara L. Rasberry (Harvey) of Norfolk, Virginia, Pauline V. Wilson (Michael) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Elsie L. Sanderson (Calvin) of Knightdale, North Carolina, Larry C. Foreman (Diane) of Richmond, Virginia, Maurice A. Foreman (Cathy Hayes) of Norfolk, Virginia; twenty grandchildren, forty great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
