With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Gregory Johnson, who departed this life on February 1, 2025, at the age of 52. Gregory, affectionately known as “Greg,” was more than a son, brother, father, and friend; he was a source of strength and wisdom, which left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Born on April 16, 1972, in Norfolk, VA, Greg pursued his passion for numbers and graduated from Norfolk State University with a degree in Accounting. His sharp mind and keen ability to “crunch numbers” with ease made him a respected professional, but beyond his career, he was a man of unwavering integrity and generosity. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or simply be a steady presence for those who needed him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Boone; his grandparents, Evelyn and Prentice Johnson; his aunt, Patrice Ryland; and his cousin, Sheldon Ryland.
Greg’s strength and unwavering support will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. As we say goodbye, we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain and now rests peacefully.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at Endtime United Church of Jesus, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory.
Rest in peace, Greg. You will always be loved and remembered.

February 19, 2025 at 9:23 pmTo my younger brother from another mother, I thank you for the times that we all shared. It was you who kept us strong, it was you whom was okay when we cried on each other’s shoulders, it was you who stopped in the middle of what you were doing to drive from Norfolk to Ashland, Va to squeeze my daughter, my niece and myself to give us a ride back to Norfolk after my van broke down. I can go on and on but you would say that is what family does without looking for praise or any reimbursement. If I have then you have. I love brother, this is from your oldest brother from another mother as you would say. Until we meet again. I’ll continue to do the Greg dance as my daughter would call it.
