Gracie Mae Collins was born may 25, 1942 to the late, Earvis and Beatrice Jordan in Southampton VA. There she received her education. Gracie accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian walk as a member of Elm Avenue United Methodist Church. Gracie was member of the Hospitality Committee, Sunday school supertindent, Sunday school teacher for over 20 years, she served God faithfully. She was steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the word of God. Gracie worked many years as a CNA until her health wouldn’t allow her to work any longer. Though she never birthed any children of her own, she mothered many.
Gracie leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 17 years Norman L. Collins, five children; McCoy Freeman, Melvin Freeman (Loretta), Fannie Freeman, Alice Hollier, and Etta Lynch, two children preceded her in death; Joyce Anderson and James Freeman, Five siblings; Lizzie, Ada, Mae Etter, Maryland(Betty) and John B.(Sandra), five siblings preceded her in death; Jack, Cleo, Daisy, Joe, and Dorothy. Twentyone grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews.
