On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, God called to rest Gordon Bennie Goldsberry, affectionately known as Ben. He was born on June 14, 1959, to the late Benjamin F. Goldsberry and Marsha J. Goldsberry.
Gordon graduated from Churchland High School in 1978. Ben would begin his career as a brick mason, starting with his father at BFG Masonry. While developing his craft, he began dreaming of owning his own business. He started GBG Masonry until health issues arose. He was a master brick mason who loved his trade with more than 33 years in the business.
He began attending Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples with his family. He made the decision to join the church in 1995. Ben had a passion for music and writing songs. He joined the Smyrna Male Chorus and would go on to sing every 3rd Sunday. He would sing the lead vocals on the songs, “He’s There”, “I Won’t Complain” and “Your Grace and Mercy.”
Gordon leaves to cherish his loving wife of 39 years, Annette B. Goldsberry; his daughter, Sheneika A. Goldsberry; two grandsons, Kaleb M. Hinton and Kaiden M. Hinton; his Godson, Jalil Langston; sister, Annette Sutton (Kevin); two nephews, Christian B. Sutton and Ethan K. Sutton; and niece, Attalia N. Sutton. May 2, 2025 at 7:25 pm“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15) To the family of Ben, as I reflect upon the many moments of our friendship which goes back to 3rd grade, I pray that the smiles and kindness that he shared with many, will bring to light a “man of God” who will be truly missed, praying for your strength in the Lord.
