Glenda Ann Tillery

On Monday, February 12, 2024, Glenda Tillery transitioned from earth to eternity at Norfolk General Hospital. She was born on July 14, 1952, to the late Willie and Clotie Spruill. She graduated from Booker T Washington High School in 1972. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in her younger years. She began her career at Old Dominion University as a Lab Specialist in the Biology Department in 1979. She also did Phlebotomy part-time. Before she retired, she worked with IMS Gear as a Contact Specialist. After retirement she would often visit with her family in Baltimore.  While growing up she enjoyed going fishing, crabbing, and watching soap operas. Everyone that knew her knew she loved to cook and could throw down in the kitchen. She developed a love for house plants, in which she enjoyed taking care of them. She had a way of making you laugh without trying, she naturally had a fun-loving spirit.


Glenda married her former husband Johnny Tillery in 1973. This union was blessed with a daughter Marquia Lewis of Baltimore, MD.  She will forever be cherished by her three grandchildren Daevion Tillery, D’Mareon Tillery, and Londyn Lewis, all of Baltimore. One great-grandson DaKari Tillery who she adored. Five sibling Annie Moore (pre-deceased Solomon), Arlene Niles (Brian), Willie Spruill (Belinda), Theresa, and Crystal Caver (Antonio) all of Virginia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
