Gladys G. White entered eternal rest on September 24,2021 from her home. She was the third eldest of 9 children born to the late Richard A and Aldonia P. Sutton on May 28, 1932, in Edenton N.C. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School. At an early age she received Christ in her life. She was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Spirit under the leadership of the late Bishop D. Lawrence Williams in the mother Church of God in Christ. She was a faithful servant who committed herself to doing the will of God. She sang in the choir from childhood, served on the usher board and was a member of the mothers’ board. She continued serving diligently under the leadership of the late Bishop Hevman Clark at the New Hope Church of God in Christ. She continued diligently serving on the usher board. She was married to the late Deacon Samuel E. White Sr. for 56 years before his passing. Their marriage produced 7 children. Her employment includes being a nurse’s aide at Portsmouth General Hospital for eighteen years and being a nurse’s aide at Newtown Nursing Home until she retired. Her hobbies included cooking, cleaning, entertaining family and friends and reading the word of God. She had a great sense of humor and loved everyone.  No one was a stranger to her and whenever she entertained, she always made sure you got enough to eat. She is predeceased in death by both parents, her husband Deacon Samuel E. White Sr. and son Samuel E. white Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons Daniel L White (Margaret) of Chesapeake, VA, Joseph A. White (Phillis) of Bowie MD, Duane T. White (Cynthia) of Chesapeake, VA; 3 daughters Dianne M. Wilkins (Willie) form Lanham, MD, Sharon D. Spikes (Christopher) of Va Beach, VA, and Sandra E. White of Chesapeake, VA; 2 brothers Richard A. Sutton (Corine) from Forestville, MD and Roy A. Sutton of Chesapeake, VA; 1 sister Barbara I. Matthews of Waldorf, MD and a special brother-in-law Edward Johnson of Chesterfield, VA; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren 14 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and a host of other friends and loved ones
