Geraldine Wise Johnson

On June 29 ,1949, Geraldine Patience Wise entered this world to the late Mamie and Claude Wise, Sr. From then on her  enure here on earth was with many events. Her education was received in the County of Accomack through the public school system. She continued her education at Norfolk State University (NSU) where she studied business. It was at NSU that her friendships continued to grow to the long-lasting friendships with those who knew her best as Gerald. She continued from there entering the workforce at DePaul Medical Center. For a short period of time and from there on elevating her career with the Norfolk School Board where she retired after 20 years of service in 2001. Geraldine dedicated her life to Christ during her youthful twenties at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. It is there where she was the head of the children’s ministry and served as a deaconess among the many selfless acts of service for God.

Geraldine was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Rice and brother, Claude Wise, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Clifton William Johnson, Jr. of 45 years; her children, son, Lanier V. Johnson, Sr. (Christina) and his children, Ko’Ryn V. Khrystian V., Lanier V. Jr, KeShawn and Kevon Cooper and Aleigha and Arianna Johnson; daughter, Amber D. Johnson
and her son, Sterling Crutchfield; and step-children, Terry Green and Clifton Johnson, III; three sisters, Doretha Bunting, Gwendolyn Lovick and Janice Mason; one brother, Gregory Wise, Sr., along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends near and far.

    May God continue to wrap his loving arms around this precious family and comfort each one.
    Mom and I will truly miss Geraldine. She and mom were close friends right to the end. We will miss our phone calls and long talks. Our sister, we look forward to the great day when we meet again around God’s throne. What a day of rejoicing that will be! Until we meet again sis, I will say see you later. We love and we hold on to our precious memories of you!

    Revelation 14:13–Blessed are those who die in the Master..how blessed to die that way! …and blessed rest from their hard, hard work.
