Sunrise: December 21, 1977

Sunset: October 2, 2021

George Samuel Sumner left us on October 2, 2021, in his home in Chesapeake, Virginia.

George was born on December 21, 1977, in San Diego, California to Rhonda Jean Sumner and Lonnie Benard Sumner, Sr. He graduated from Oscar Smith High School in 1996 and studied management at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He played football on the Oscar Smith Varsity Football Team and loved to play basketball as well.

George was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and reliable friend. Throughout the years, George wore many hats in the workforce, but in recent years became an entrepreneur and established Solegers and C.A.S.H. (Calling All Sneaker Heads) which is an exclusive consignment sneaker boutique. He truly poured his heart into his business. His personal interests also included: photography, cooking, bartending, traveling to visit his kids and spending time with family, especially his mother.

Left to cherish his precious memories is his mother, Rhonda Jean Sumner; two children, Anthony Sumner and Erica Sumner; bonus daughter, Isabel; three brothers, Dominique Sumner, Steven Douglas Sumner (Duyen Do) and Lonnie Benard Sumner, Jr. (Oanh Le); his one and only sister, Margaux Sumner Mcneil;  nieces, Mariah Mcneil and Lelah Mcneil, aunts, Jean D. Johnson and Angelia J. Copeland; special friends, Aole Wilkins and Tory Terry and a host of cousins, family and friends.

George had a heart of gold, always willing to help others, always kept a smile on his face and left an impression on everyone he met. He touched the lives and hearts of so many people in so many ways. George was a joy to be around, the “life of the party” and a person whom everyone looked forward to seeing. Although he has vacated his earthly dwelling, he is and will be LOVED always…. TODAY…. TOMORROW… FOREVER.

George was my best friend and my brother he has been a part of my life for the last 32 years. We spent everyday together as childhood friends and kept in touch over the 20+ years I spent in the military. Over the last 4 years he was instrumental in guiding me through a devastating time in my life. To his family and his chikdren please know he touched so many he met and our family took him in like he was blood. Frankly put he was! He always spoke of you Anthony and Ericka and was proud of you.
