Gaston Douglas Dozier affectionately called Boy or Butch entered into eternal rest on December 11, 2023. He is now resting and worshipping his Lord; no more sickness, and no more pain.
Gaston was the second child born to the late Gaston and Carrie Dozier on July 7, 1950, in Tarboro, NC. The family moved to Portsmouth VA in the early sixties. The Brighton Community (Wirt Street) was his place of residence. He attended First Baptist Church, South Portsmouth.
He graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in 1969. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
After his discharge from the military, Gaston relocated to Atlanta Georgia. He became a Banquet Director at Colony Square. He enjoyed cooking, watching sports on TV and catering events for his friends. He resided in Atlanta for 35 years, and returned to Portsmouth VA when he began to have health issues.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, and three brothers: Ronald, Randolph and Wade Dozier. Left to cherish his memory are his son Aaron Dozier (Christina) of Atlanta GA; sisters Mildred Harrison and Linda F. Smith of Chesapeake VA; brother Wilbert Dozer (Evangeline) of Chesapeake VA; sister-in-law Trilby Dozier of Portsmouth VA; a special Aunt Bessie Winstead of Wilson NC; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, former wife Ernestine Backus of Atlanta GA and friends.
