Gary Nathaniel Gorum, Jr., transitioned from earthly labor to heavenly reward on Thursday, March 24, 2022. His final days were spent surrounded by the family and friends he loved so much.
Gary was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on March 28, 1969. At a young age, he was lovingly called Knuckle-Man. As a child, Gary spent many of his weekday evenings and Saturday mornings at the Camelot Football Field playing recreation league sports with his friends. Because of his speed and athletic prowess, Gary was called Spider by his teammates and coaches. While a student at Deep Creek Junior High School, Gary was a member of the school’s basketball team. As a teenager, Gary enjoyed playing sports and spending time with his friends, and he maintained many of those friendships throughout his life. Gary worked closely with his father, Gary Gorum Sr., as a skilled flooring contractor and installer.
Gary loved his family immensely. He enjoyed spending time with them, sharing meals, watching sports, and getting his back rubbed by any family member who came in close proximity to him. He shared a very special bond with his younger brother Antoine.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Barry Jennings. He leaves the following people to cherish his memory: his children, Jasmine Pittman (Joshua), Brandyn Richardson, and Jordyn Gorum; his mother Floydie Jennings his father Gary Gorum, Sr., his step-mother Linda Gorum; his grandchildren Elijah Evans and Kyree Ellis; his brother Antoine Jennings (Veronica), his sister Nicole Jennings (Stephen), his step-brothers Harry Bridgers, Jr., (Jessica) and Allen Bridgers; and a number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
