Garney Mae Parker

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Garney Mae Parker, a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, was summoned to her Heavenly home.

The oldest of her siblings, she was born on May 6, 1942, to the late Garney Lee, Sr. and Lucille Parker in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Garney Mae worked for the United States Postal Service for 19 years in New York and Virginia. She attended Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY, for Medical Terminology with a 4.0 GPA. She also worked as a Nurse’s Aide in Portsmouth, VA. An anointed and accomplished musician, Garney Mae played the piano, organ, and sang for many churches in New York, Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. Garney Mae was a devoted daughter who spent many years of her life caring for her mother before her passing in 2015. A dedicated Christian, Garney Mae would always share her love, prayers, and words of encouragement with those around her. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and church community. She has touched many lives, and her memory will never fade.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, son, Emmanuel Parker, daughter, Cindy Blount, sister, Carolyn Nolen, stepbrother, Therman Alston, and stepsister, Janice Alston.

She leaves to cherish her memory her stepmothers, Ms. Inez Parker of NC and Mary Parker of  NC, her grandchildren, Ricky R Beale, Jr. of KS,  Antonio R. Beale of VA, Kristina Jones, and Donna Garris of VA. She also leaves behind siblings Samuel Parker (Valerie) of NC, Leon Parker (Deborah) of NC, Garney Parker, Jr. (Tina), of VA, Herman Alston of VA, Fay Ely of NC, Deborah Deberry of VA, and Tempie Williams of NC, as well as, five great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

    We thank God for you because you were a beautiful blessing to our ministry and to us. We loved the way you sang and played and ministered to us through music. We will never forget you and the sacrifices you made to commute to us. You were an inspirational anointed and faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You will definitely be missed and we are praying that your eternal soul will forever rest in peace, We love you and we appreciate you and we hope to see you again in that Great Getting Up Morning!
