On June 22, 2024, our Heavenly Father sent an angel to one of His chosen sons to inform him that his assignment of dedication and love for his family, friends, and community was completed. The angel’s orders were for Frederick Lorenzo White, Sr. affectionately known as “Uncle Bay Bay” or “Fred” to leave and take flight at 6:15 a.m. from his home in Chesapeake, VA and enter the presence of the Lord to spend eternity with Him.
Fred was born August 10, 1936, in Norfolk, VA and was the youngest child born to the late Beulah and Edward White, who preceded him in death. As the youngest child, he was called “Baby” but later became known as “Bay Bay”. He attended Metropolitan A.M.E.Z. Church as a child and teenager where his mother was actively involved in the Usher Ministry. He would often say, “We were in the church from sunup to sundown”.
Fred attended Norfolk Public Schools, but then decided to join the Air Force at the age of sixteen and served in the military for over ten years. He was trained in Upstate NY and Sheffield, Texas as an Airplane mechanic and received a license to fly planes. His other tours of duty included Japan, California, Korea and Camden, New Jersey.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Fred was employed by the U.S. Postal Service before joining the Baltimore City Jail, later called the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correction Services as a Correctional Officer in Baltimore, MD where he served the community for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching television. Among his favorite programs were Westerns, the Daily News, and the Weather Channel. He loved shopping at Flea Markets and could always tell you where to find a “good deal”. In his spare time, he took pride in washing and shining his 2003 Dodge 4-door Sedan.
Fred was also preceded in death by his sister: Mary Brown; his brothers: Bernard White, Charles White, Joseph White, Sr. and his daughter Teresa White. Fred leaves to cherish his memory five of his six children: Patricia White-Stewart, Frederick White, Jr., Cindy White, Joseph White and Lori Henderson along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many devoted and loyal friends.
Fred leaves behind a legacy of life, love, and generosity. We are all the better for having the privilege of loving him and being loved by him. May he rest in eternal peace; he will be greatly missed!

July 3, 2024 at 8:18 pmUnc, you have been an intricate part of my life since I was four years old. We have had a lot of laughs, a lot of great conversations, and you have left me with so many great memories to cherish. Thank you for your wisdom, your faithfulness, your generosity, your love, and your confidence in me. We used to say that we were “the last ones standing” of our siblings. You always stood strong, so now it’s time for you to rest in peace. I love you.
