Freddie Rosetta “Puddin” Jenkins was the third of six children born on May 21, 1952 to the late Charles King Sr. and Rosetta King; and predeceased by brothers Charles King Jr., Leonard King and sister Cynthia Alexander. Family and friends lovingly called her Rosetta, Roe or Puddin. To either name she would always respond with a big broad infectious smile that was hers and hers alone.
Born and raised in Norfolk, VA, Rosetta was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Granby High School. After high school she went to work for the Navy Exchange at the Norfolk Naval Base, in food service, and was employed there for thirty years until her health began to decline.
Rosetta was the life of any gathering; when she walked in with her big smile the atmosphere was immediately filled with fun and laughter. She loved family and family gatherings. Holidays were her favorite times of the year. Her last holiday was Christmas 2022 spent with family that brought her so much joy and happiness. Rosetta was always a fun loving person and enjoyed dancing, listening to Frankie Beverly, playing spades, and traveling to Ohio and New York. Her special mother- son time was taking her son Fred (Plump) on picnics to Roanoke Rapids at the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains. That was their special time together and they both look forward to those special trips. Her daughter in-law and grandchildren were also a great joy. She also had a close and special bond with her caretaker Stephanie Blanchard-Harris.
Cherishing her memory and so many special moments are her son, Frederick A. King, Sr. (Sandra-daughter in love) of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Willie King and Wayne King of Norfolk, VA; three Grandchildren, Frederick King Jr. Aaron King and Tahjanay King; five Great Grandchildren, Levi James –King, Malayah James –King, Tykeem King, Ki’seyah King and Miracle James, all of Virginia Beach, VA. five nephews; one niece and a host of relatives and friends.
