Franklin R. Turner

On January 1, 2024, our beloved Franklin Roosevelt Turner transitioned from this life and gained his wings. He was born in Franklin, VA on October 28, 1940 to the late Zena and Herbert Turner Sr. 

Franklin was a product of the Portsmouth Public Schools and proudly worked for the Merchant Sealift Command for over 38 years. Franklin was known by many names including Frank, Uncle Boe, and the infamous FT. 

Preceding Franklin in his death are his wife, Gladys Turner; his brother, Herbert Turner Jr.; two sisters, Eleanor Boyce and Frances Cornelius; and daughter, Zena Steele. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his daughter, Frances (Troy) Darden of Chesapeake, VA; brother, Alvin (Towanna) Turner of Portsmouth, VA; three grandchildren, LaQuisha Turner, John Turner, and Keiatta (David) Garcia; two nephews, Kevin Jones Sr. and Felix Turner; one niece, Fair Turner; six great grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Paige (Wilroy) Hill of Portsmouth, VA; one step grandson, three step greatgrandchildren, host of relatives, friends, and a great loving, and caring care giver Harriett Nicholson.
